Atlas High School Gayaza Welcomes New Students with Traditional Celebration.

June 14, 2025 - Atlas High School Gayaza hosted its annual Senior One and Senior Five Welcome Party, marking the official integration of new students into the school community. The day-long celebration, held on the school premises, combined spiritual reflection, academic guidance, and student entertainment.



Morning Devotions Set the Foundation

The event commenced at 8:00 AM with a religious service led by the School Chaplain. The ceremony featured meaningful scripture readings, with Baimuse Queen delivering the first reading from 1 Peter Chapter 4, verses 8-11, and Obedi Simon Peter presenting the second reading from Proverbs Chapter 3, verses 5-6. The intercessions were thoughtfully distributed among key community members, with Nabukenya Treasure leading prayers for the country, the Chaplain for the church, and the Headmistress for the school and parents.

The worship service was enhanced by musical performances from the school choir and band, who provided spiritual accompaniment throughout the morning devotions. Their harmonious contributions created an atmosphere of reverence and community participation, setting an uplifting tone for the remainder of the celebration.

The Chaplain's homily emphasized the importance of active learning and personal responsibility. Drawing from Matthew 20:26-28, he encouraged students to maintain detailed notebooks, explaining that God desires His followers to record and remember His teachings.


The spiritual leader stressed the significance of self-leadership through personal administration, noting that students who develop these skills become effective decision-makers. He cautioned against what he termed "silent disobedience," such as failing to take proper notes or neglecting to complete assigned diagrams, while encouraging students to love one another and serve as faithful stewards of God's word.

Leadership Addresses Academic Excellence

The Headmistress reinforced the Chaplain's message of self-discipline while welcoming the new Senior One and Senior Five students. She emphasized the school's core values and the importance of maintaining high standards of discipline throughout their academic journey. Her address highlighted the institution's commitment to developing well-rounded students who embody both academic excellence and strong moral character.


Student Entertainment and Official Ceremonies

The afternoon session showcased the creative talents of the new students through various performances including mimes, dances, modeling and dramatic skits. These presentations provided an opportunity for Senior One and Senior Five students to demonstrate their abilities while building camaraderie within their new academic community.

A significant milestone occurred when the new students participated in the official swearing-in ceremony, taking the oath of allegiance to Atlas High School Gayaza. This formal commitment marked their transition from prospective students to full members of the school community.

Administrative Guidance and Vision

Deputy Academic Director Mr. Waswa Ronald addressed the assembly, emphasizing the critical relationship between academic excellence and personal discipline. His remarks focused on the dedication required for scholastic success and the behavioral standards expected of all students.

Headmistress Delivers Comprehensive Welcome

In her comprehensive address, the Headmistress officially welcomed the new students while articulating the school's vision and mission. She reinforced the Chaplain's earlier message about maintaining positive self-regard and avoiding negative attitudes. Using the metaphor of negative energy being like a flat tire, she encouraged students to maintain optimism and resilience throughout their academic journey.

The Headmistress shared her aspirations for student success, noting how former students often become valuable contributors to their teachers' lives in later years. She provided practical guidance on friendship selection, subject choices, and decision-making, emphasizing the importance of choosing companions and academic paths that would lead to personal greatness.


Her address concluded with strategic advice about maximizing the school experience, reminding students that educational memories endure throughout life. She noted that those who actively participate in school activities would have meaningful stories to share with future generations, while those who remain passive would miss these formative experiences.


Recognition and Closing

The Headmistress extended appreciation to various groups who contributed to the event's success, including administrators, Senior One and Senior Five class teachers, organizing committee members, master of ceremonies, and student entertainers. She emphasized the collaborative effort required to create such meaningful experiences for new students.

The School Choir

The formal program concluded with the introduction of all staff members to the new students, providing them with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with their educational support system. The Headmistress then invited the teaching staff to participate in the official entertainment dance, symbolically joining the celebration and demonstrating the inclusive nature of the school community.

The Welcome Party concluded at 6:00 PM, successfully achieving its objectives of spiritual grounding, academic orientation, and community building. The event established a strong foundation for the new students' integration into Atlas High School Gayaza's academic and social environment, setting the stage for their educational journey ahead.
